ADBKA HONEY EXTRACTORS – loan policy

ADBKA HONEY EXTRACTORS – loan policy v1.0

1. A honey extractor, belonging to the ADBKA, can be loaned by any approved and
active member of the association as recorded in our eR2 database.
2. There is no charge for the loan to members but a deposit of £50 is to be paid to the
Treasurer by bank transfer before collection. This payment will indicate agreement to
the conditions given in this policy.
3. Bookings for the extractor loans will be through the ADBKA Secretary unless he/she
is away or unavailable, when it will be through the ADBKA Chair.
4. Loans to beekeepers outside the ADBKA is allowed but a fee of £50 will be charged,
in addition to the deposit. All other conditions remain extant. ADBKA members have
priority.
5. A loaned extractor must be returned on the agreed date, which is to be no later than
7 days from collection. Failure to do so may result in the loss of the deposit. If it is
not returned within a month of the agreed date then the borrower may be liable to
pay the full price of a replacement.
6. No member shall be allowed to ‘hog’ the extractors so there will be a minimum gap
of 4 weeks between a member’s loan periods.
7. The extractor is to be thoroughly cleaned, dried and made ready for the next person
who may wish to borrow it or for it to be put in storage until it is next required.
8. The extractor will be inspected for cleanliness and damage when returned. If it is not
considered clean enough the person returning will be asked to carry out further
cleaning. If after this it still not considered clean enough the deposit will be forfeited
and retained by the ADBKA. If it is damaged the cost of repair/replacement lies with
the borrower. The decision of the member conducting the inspection is final.
9. Arrangements for collection and subsequent return of the extractor lie with the
person wanting to borrow it, who is to liaise with the Cowdown Manager directly as
they are held in the store on that site. The Cowdown Manager’s details can be found
